A man armed with a flick knife who threatened two women with violence while trying to force them to get out of their cars has been jailed.

In a 10 minute period between 8.25am and 8.35am on June 26 last year, Daniel Clark approached and threatened two women and tried to get them out of their cars first in Ingrave Road in Brentwood.

During the first incident, the victim had come to a stop at a set of traffic lights when the Clark opened her door, grabbed her, verbally abused her and tried to pull her out.

Fortunately, she was able to kick him away and close the door.

During the incident, she described seeing Clark holding what appeared to a flick knife which he held against her stomach causing her to fear she was going to be stabbed.

A short time later, a second woman was sat in her car which was parked along the same road when she saw the Clark running up the road.

At that point he turned round, banged on her window, and starting screaming at her to open the car, threatening to hurt her if she didn’t.

He managed to smash the window, causing glass to fall on the victim, and tried to open the door from the inside.

During the incident, a piece of glass got into the victim’s eye. She was also left with a large wound to her arm.

When she screamed, Clark ran off.

As he did so he was stopped and grabbed by a member of the public who was then also able to flag down a police officer.

When Clark, 39, of no fixed address was searched, officers found he had a flick knife in one of his pockets.

He was arrested and later charged.

He admitted affray, ABH, and possession of a bladed article at Basildon Crown Court on March 23 and was sentenced at the same court yesterday (June 20) to two years and nine months in prison.

Investigating officer PC James White, from Brentwood CID, said: “Daniel Clark subjected his two victims to terrifying ordeals as they were just trying to go about their daily business.

“He threatened them with violence and left one of the women injured.

“I want to thank the members of the public whose prompt actions helped lead to him being detained."
