Temporary traffic lights are set to be in place outside a school until Friday after a burst water main was fixed.

The pipe in Church Road, Thundersley, near to Kingston Primary School, burst yesterday.

Rebecca Harris, Tory MP for Castle Point, posted images on social media of the traffic lights and the water coming out of the road.

Essex and Suffolk Water said temporary lights are set to be in place until Friday.

A spokesman said: "Our team worked throughout the night on the repair to the burst water pipe on Church Road, and this has now been completed.

“Bad weather and difficult ground conditions made the repair more difficult than anticipated, but we were able to restore water supplies to the customers affected by around 6pm last night, using overland pipes.

“To ensure the safety of the team working on this, it was necessary to temporarily shut off supply to a small number of customers for a period this morning. Everyone should now have water back on.

“Traffic lights remain in place as the road is currently being reinstated and we anticipate this to be reopened on Friday.”
