During the incident, he was approached by two men while he was in a car.

He was then removed from the vehicle and assaulted, where his watch, wallet, and phone were taken.

It has since confirmed the watch stolen, was a Rolex, however, it isn’t believed he was targeted just for his watch.

At this stage, police are unable to confirm how much the Rolex is worth.

Essex Police say they are also investigating a report of one of the men holding a weapon, but as of yet there are no reports of anyone sustaining a gunshot injury.

However, members of the public reported seeing a firearm.

No arrests have been made but police enquiries are ongoing, however, they do not believe there is any wider threat to the public in Southend.

Martin Terry, councillor responsible for public protection, said this is shocking.

He said: “Firstly, my thoughts are with the victim, and I hope the victim recovers well.

“This is shocking incident in which I find very disturbing.

“We don’t want this behaviour anywhere in our society, let alone in our city.

“I urge all residents to come forward to the police if they know anything so the culprits can be caught.”
