It is being recommended that drivers add features such as steering locks, OBD protection, and use faraday pouches.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We have seen a rise in Ford Kuga thefts in the Castle Point area.

“These are 2016-2018 models.

“The method in which these are stolen cannot be prevented by using faraday pouches, so we recommend adding security features such as steering locks and OBD protection.”
