SOUTHEND’S newest nightclub will open next weekend with a performance from a 1990s boyband, following a £400,000 revamp.

Popworld, in Warrior Square, will officially open for the first time on Friday, March 3, after the transformation of former venue Rhythm Room.

Bosses have confirmed that boy band Five will be performing on Saturday night as part of the opening weekend.

Popworld is a growing chain of nightclubs specialising in “cheesy pop music”, with sites up and down the country including one in Chelmsford.

And in September 2021 it became the Rhythm Room.
