FIVE people have been arrested after a brawl in a pub which left someone with a “significant” head injury.

Police officers were called to the Travellers Joy pub, in Down Hall Road, Rayleigh, at about 10.20pm on Saturday evening after reports of a fight in the garden area involving two men.

It was also reported a further three people arrived and became involved in the fight.

Three people sustained head injuries, one of which has been described by officers as “significant”.

Essex Police has arrested five people on suspicion of a mixture of offences including grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and affray.

Officers investigating the incident have launched an appeal for information.

“If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us,” a spokesman for the police force said.

Down Hall Road stretches between London Road and Hambro Hill and the pub is close to Rayleigh train station.
