A BASILDON couple’s pumpkin farm has turned into a TV set for a segment about harvesting the spooky vegetable for a BBC One show.

Emily and Guy French, of Foxes Farm, in Wash Road, have been growing pumpkins since 2007, but this year’s are perfectly plump and monstrous due to the perfect mix of late summer rain and heavy rain.

As a result, BBC Morning Live’s Briony May Williams and crew descended on the farm to show them how they harvest the pumpkins, how they are distributed around the UK and also their popular pick your own pumpkin patches.

Briony, who rose to fame after appearing on the Great British Bake Off in 2018, used some of the grown crop in her pumpkin cake, which she left for the couple to finish.

Foxes Farm shared on social media: "We were so excited here at Foxes Farm to welcome the BBC Morning Live crew with presenter Briony May Williams to the farm!

"We showed them how we harvest our pumpkins, how they are distributed around the UK and also our pick your own pumpkin patches! We ended up using some of our pumpkins in some of Briony's delicious recopies- she even left the pumpkin cake for us to finish! Yum, yum!"

Foxes Farm will feature on Morning Live between 9.15am and 10am tomorrow.
