The devastated mother of a 20-year-old son who died after a crash on Canvey has paid tribute to "the live wire of the family with the biggest heart”.

Essex Police were called to Harvest Road at around 5.50pm on Friday, October 27 after a crash involving an e-scooter and a van.

The e-scooter rider, Connor Burden, from the island, suffered serious injuries and, sadly, later died in hospital following the crash.

His mum said: “Losing my boy has left all his family and friends absolutely devastated.

“He was the live wire in the family with the biggest heart, he idolised his siblings especially his baby sister and thought the world of his friends around him.

“As a family we are struggling to find a way to ever get through this but the support we have received from Connor’s friends and other family members has been so amazing.

“I know my boy would be proud of each and every one of them.

“Fly high my darling boy.”

A thorough investigation into this incident is continuing at pace and Essex Police says Connor’s family is being supported.

Police continue to appeal for anyone with information, or anyone with dash cam footage which could assist their investigation, to come forward.
