Rail firm c2c has issued an update to commuters after card payments were suspended over issues which saw some passengers debited "multiple times" for a ticket.
c2c announced this morning that issues with machines across the network meant it was forced to suspend all card payments at all of their stations, meaning only cash could used by commuters during the morning rush.
Frustrated customers took to X and Facebook to complain about the issues, with a number of customers expressing confusion that they had been debited multiple times for a train ticket which they claimed they had not received.
Issuing an update this afternoon, a c2c spokesman said: "Thank you for your patience whilst we dealt with the payment issues this morning.
"This has now been resolved and you can now purchase tickets via card payments again.
"Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused you today."
E-tickets were rolled out across the network earlier this month for "quicker and easier" travel, meaning commuters could pay for tickets on the app, download a barcode and tap this at the barriers as they enter the station.
When asked today whether "tap and go" payments were still set to be introduced, a spokesman for c2c said: "Yes this is still happening. We haven't got a specific date yet but it is coming very soon."
