TWO school children were taken to hospital after being “hit by a car” in Leigh.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a crash outside Belfairs Academy, in Highlands Boulevard, yesterday afternoon.
This was following reports to pedestrians had been involved in a crash with a car.

Belfairs Academy has since confirmed the two pedestrians were children at the school.
They confirmed both were taken to hospital but are now resting at home.
A spokesman for Belfairs Academy said: “There were two year 7 students that were taken to hospital following an accident yesterday.
“Both students are now resting at home and will be returning to the academy on Monday.”
The road was shut for several hours whilst police and ambulance remained at the scene.
Essex Police has since confirmed the injuries sustained were minor and were two school children.
They have added that there are “no further updates” and “no offences”.
