As families get together to enjoy another busy Easter weekend, spare a thought for these lovable Basildon Dogs Trust pups who need loving new homes.

Bridget, a Staffordshire Bull Cross

Echo: Bridget Bridget (Image: Dogs Trust)

Bridget is an energetic girl and is full of character. She loves exploring outdoors, loves to sniff and enjoys his walks.

Due to her Lurcher breed, she does display typical sight hound traits, including a high prey drive so a secure garden would be an advantage. Bridget’s love for tasty snacks is also an effective way to build a relationship with her and continue her training in her new home.

Being fearful of new people, she will need to be muzzled at the vet and kept on a lead at all times when in public.

Dogs Trust's on-site Training Behaviourists will work through the adoption process to give her new owners support and guidance throughout.

Bridget will be a rewarding addition to a dedicated family which is keen to encourage her to be the best dog she can be.

Beau, a Labrador

Echo: Beau.Beau. (Image: Dogs Trust)

Beautiful Beau is six-year-old Labrador cross who came to the centre with not much previous history.

He is currently enjoying his time with a foster carer. He settled in amazingly well, is housetrained and loves nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa for cuddles.

Beau is the perfect house guest and travels well in the car.

Leaving hours are being built up slowly and he is coping well. Beau is housetrained, but the odd accident is expected in his new home. Beau will require a little love and understanding, this will in return give you a very loving and affectionate companion.

Shadow, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Echo: Shadow.Shadow. (Image: Dogs Trust)

Shadow needs an adult-only home with not many visitors and no visiting children. This is because he jumps up a lot in stressful situations. He is very noise-sensitive and will grab onto the items that worry him.

He needs understanding owners who will take things slowly with him and help him gain confidence in his new home. Shadow must be the only dog in the home as he can be reactive to dogs, so he will need to go on quiet walks with not many dogs around.

Shadow is strong on the lead and was known for lunging at dogs in his previous home. His new owners will work closely with the centre's training team to make sure he is all set up for his new home.

Spruce, a lurcher

Spruce is a six-year-old Lurcher who arrived at the centre through no fault of his own. He can be left alone for up to four hours, which will need to be built up over time.

He is a real foodie who likes his treats but can be a bit "snatchy" and he loves a fluffy toy. Spruce is not used to the car, so that will need to built up slowly with patience and training. Super spruce is a sweet chap with lots of love to give.

If you love a lurcher, then you need not look any further. This lurcher will definitely "spruce" up your life.

Bryn, a Welsh Terrier

Echo: BrynBryn (Image: Dogs Trust)

Two-year-old Bryn was sadly returned to the centre due to "unwanted behaviours" in the home. In true terrier style, he is super smart and is quickly learning new skills.

He is being crate trained, muzzle trained, is getting used to a harness, and is an all round top student. He will need to be muzzled in the vets and groomers for his own safety. Bryn is partial to a hotdog and cheese which are used for his training, and he adores squeaky toys and swap games. Fetch is his absolute favourite, and it's easy to become his best friend with the help of a tennis ball.

Trainers have been using a flirt pole with Bryn, which is helping him with his impulse control.

Bryn travels well in the car, enjoys adventuring and exploring, and loves getting out and about for a walk. He can also be left for short periods of time and is able to settle with a chew. Bryn will be a rewarding rehome to a family who are willing to put some time in to training him, and helping him be the best boy he can be.
