A dad is beaming with pride after his 11-year-old daughter ran 30km to raise cash for charity.

Tiami Green has raised close to £750 after pounding the pavement alongside dad Danny over the course of nine days.

The Appleton School pupil decided to take on the challenge after being inspired by a Save the Children advert while watching the television.

Danny is overjoyed with how his daughter threw herself into the fundraising challenge in these tough times.

He said: “I’m really proud that Tiami completed her goal of running 30km with me.

“She is more caring than anyone I know and I feel we are lucky in that respect.

“Although I’m always proud of her, it’s even more pleasing when she selflessly goes out of her way to help others.

“She stuck at going for the runs and I’m in awe at her dedication to it.

“Tiami has got the stage where she is running 1k in just six minutes, which is unbelievable at her age.”

The money raised will be a welcome boost for Save the Children as charities up and down the country have been heavily affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Danny, 34, says Tiami has smashed her initial fundraising target.

He added: “We were watching TV when a Save the Children advert came on.

“The advert made Tiami realise how lucky she is and, with her being such a caring person, she decided she wanted to help.

“She is home-schooling at the moment and I don’t want her to finish school only to go on her Xbox because then she is staring at a screen all day.

“Tiami then decided to start going on runs with me and, after running 3k, she said she could do that ten times over.

“She’s completed 30km in nine days and, having originally set herself a target of £150, she has raised over £700.

“It’s a fantastic achievement and we’re so proud of her.”

Tiami’s fundraising efforts have been recognised by her teachers, with Appleton School set to hand over a special PE award when all pupils are able to return.

However, the youngster has already set her sights on taking on another running challenge.

Danny admitted: “She might do a marathon in a month, with her taking on 26.2 miles.

“That would help to raise even more money and Tiami is showing how many good people are out there, even in these tough times.”
