COUNCIL bosses have spoken out and insisted "enough is enough" after a targeted attack in Leigh.

Carole Mulroney, Leigh councillor in charge of planning, the enviroment, and tourism, is now organising a "summit" in a bid to tackle consistent crime in the town.

Last night's incident saw a teenager attacked on the Broadway around 8.50pm, with three arrests made.

A cordon was in place until around 2am, the Echo understands.

The injured teenager was rushed to hospital, where his injuries were determined not to be life-threatening.

Councillor Mulroney said: "Enough is enough.

"I am still waiting to learn details of the incident in the Broadway last night.

"However, it is clear that the sad death in the Old Town a couple of months ago was not an isolated incident.

"I know it is easy to criticise authorities but no one wants this sort of event - why would we, we all live here.

So I am looking to arrange a "summit", but I need all the facts first in terms of the incident, the powers of the police and others, the licensing powers and any other relevant input i.e. from schools, pubs.

"Some have got in touch with me already with some useful ideas which can be explored."
