Police have revealed why dozens of armed police officers descended into Rayleigh yesterday.
The force has said officers executed a warrant off Orchard Place, in relation to a distburance involving a 'gun'.
Pictures seen by the Echo show armed officers moving into the area at the Rayleigh Weir near the A127.
No arrests were made.
It has been reported residents were not told to leave their homes.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We executed a warrant at a site off Orchard Place, Rayleigh, at around 6.30pm yesterday, Thursday 10 September.
"This relates to a disturbance involving what has been described as a firearm.
"No arrests have been made and we continue to carry out our enquiries at the scene."
