KACPER Lopata will not be allowed out on loan by Sheffield United unless he signs a new contract at Bramall Lane.

The 20-year-old centre back impressed while on loan with the Shrimpers last season and boss Kevin Maher remains keen to bring the Pole back to Roots Hall.

However, Echosport understands the Blades will not let Lopata leave without him putting pen to paper on a new deal – something the youngster is currently unwilling to do.

Lopata, who has a year left on his current deal, has not travelled to Portugal with Sheffield United’s first team squad and is training with the under 23s.

The defender made 18 appearances while with Blues last term and has represented Poland at under 18, 19, 20 and 21 levels.
