MAIDENHEAD boss Alan Devonshire says Josh Kelly will not be joining Southend United.

The Shrimpers are keen on signing the 23-year-old who scored 17 goals for Maidenhead last season.

But Magpies manager Devonshire has told the Maidenhead Advertiser Kelly- who is also wanted by Solihull Moors - will not sign for Southend.

The Shrimpers are keen to bolster their forward options with Rhys Murphy and Harry Cardwell both set to miss the start of the season with injuries.

Callum Powell and Sam Dalby are currently the available senior striking options in the Southend squad although forwards Chris Wreh and Ibby Akanbi are both currently on trial at Roots Hall.
