SOUTHEND United have tabled an offer for a National League striker.

The Shrimpers are keen to bolster their forward options with Rhys Murphy and Harry Cardwell both set to miss the start of the season with injuries.

Blues are pushing hard to complete a deal for a striker who netted double figures last term but do face competition from at least one other club at this level to secure his signature.

Callum Powell and Sam Dalby are currently the available senior striking options in the Southend squad although forwards Chris Wreh and Ibby Akanbi are both currently on trial at Roots Hall.
