SOUTHEND United strikers Callum Powell and Chris Wreh were heavily praised by head coach Kevin Maher following Blues’ 1-1 draw at Solihull Moors.
Wreh’s second half strike earned the Shrimpers a share of the spoils in Saturday’s clash.
But both forwards pleased Maher.
“Chris Wreh and Powelly were brilliant and worked their socks off,” said Maher.
“Chris is a strong boy and his hold up play was good.
“I thought he caused them a lot of problems and so did Powelly.”
The duo, who previously played together at Northampton Town, combined well for Wreh’s well-taken effort.
And Maher was impressed with the quality of the finish.
“It was a brilliant goal and I haven’t seen him do too much with his left foot to be fair,” said Maher.
“It was set up well by Powelly and it was a great finish too.
“A point was the least we deserved after how we played in the back end of the first half and for the second half too.
“We’re delighted to give the fans something to cheer.”
