SOUTHEND United midfielder Noor Husin wants to work his way up the rankings – on and off the pitch.

Husin is eager to fire the Shrimpers higher up the National League standings with a win against Yeovil Town at Roots Hall on Saturday.

And Husin is also eager to prove his worth on the pool table, where the Blues squad bond before and after training.

“They’ve just done a ranking in there for the pool and I’m 12th so I’m not happy about that,” smiled Husin.

“It’s a good group with good banter but I should be in the top 10 sure.

“Cav (Miley) fancies himself so he’s probably number one but I should be higher!

“It’s good fun and everyone gets on here which is good.

“You can see that on the pitch and hopefully we start climbing that table too.”

Blues – who won at Wealdstone at the weekend – are currently 14th in the table.

But Husin has helped the Shrimpers pick up four points from their last games since recovering from a knee problem.

And he is keen to get on a good run.

“It’s well known we should have got more points from the Wrexham game too but there are definitely building blocks in place,” said Husin.

“The clean sheets give us something to build off and hopefully we get more points on Saturday.

"We’re good at home with the fans behind us so we're looking forward to it too."

However, Husin feels Yeovil - who are 19th in the table - will be tough to beat.

"Every game in this league is very difficult," said Husin.

"We've looked at Yeovil so we know they are difficult to beat as well so it will be a tough game.

"But we dug in to get the win on Saturday and we want to go and build on that now.

"The performance is important because eventually they will turn into results but sometimes like Saturday you have to dig in and get the points."

And Husin is also enjoying helping to make that happen after enduring a spell on the sidelines.

"It was frustrating being out and it was difficult because my season didn’t really get started," said Husin.

"But I’m delighted to be back in the fold and building my fitness and my minutes up."
