SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher feels his side have prepared well for Saturday’s clash with Altrincham.

The Shrimpers are back in action at Roots Hall tomorrow having suffered two away defeats in succession.

But Maher is eager to remain upbeat.

“It’s disappointing to lose the last two but we’re still fifth in the league and there are positives with how we’re doing this year,” said Maher.

“We’re obviously looking to get back on track on Saturday but so much good work has gone on here.

“The players are obviously disappointed because we all hate losing and we’ve not been used to it recently either.

“You do lose a bit of confidence when you lose games but it’s important to train properly which they’ve done this week.

“But we’ll be prepared for Saturday.

“We’ll look at Altrincham, what they do well and how we might be able to hurt them.”

Altrincham have risen to 16th in the table after going three games without defeat.

And Maher is expecting a stern test against Phil Parkinson’s team.

“Altrincham are a good side,” said Maher.

“They have a way of playing which hasn’t changed too much.

“They’ve got some very dangerous players and they’ve been in good form in the last three games.

“They’re very organised too so it’s a tough game.”
