SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher felt it was two points dropped for his side against Altrincham at Roots Hall.

Blues twice took the lead in the 2-2 draw before having to withstand some pressure in the second half.

But Maher was disappointed to not get more than a share of the spoils.

“You look at it and think it’s two points dropped when you’re at home and take the lead twice.,” sad Maher.

“We looked pretty comfortable until their second goal, which took the wind out of our sails a little bit.

“We played very well in the first half and could have had a couple more.

“We had one off the line, one off the post and a couple of other opportunities we could’ve done better with.”

Blues also gifted Altrincham their second equaliser of the afternoon as a calamitous mix up between Kacper Lopata and Blondy Nna Noukeu allowed Elliot Newby to tap into an unguarded goal.

And Maher was frustrated neither Shrimpers player stopped the mistake from happening.

"It’s disappointing and I think it just needs someone to take control of the situation whether that’s Kacper or Blondy," said Maher.

"A loud voice even stops their forward going on and pressing the ball.

"But we got in a bit of a mix up to say the least.

"They’re young lads and they will learn.

"Blondy has come back into the team today and he’s made some good saves.

"But when things aren’t quite going you’re way little things just don’t fall for you."
