SOUTHEND United have confirmed Kacper Lopata is free to leave the club.
Blues opted to appeal against the National League’s decision to allow Lopata to cancel his contract at Roots Hall due to a ‘serious breach’ which saw the defender having to wait an extra 28 days for his January wages.
But the Football Association have now also sided with Lopata and the Shrimpers will not be taking the matter further.
A club statement from Blues said: “Today, the FA’s Contract Disputes Tribunal decided that Kacper can leave the club.
“We sought to appeal the earlier decision (made by the National League) in order to protect the club’s interests, and whilst we are disappointed with today’s outcome, we respect the tribunal’s decision and we will not be pursuing the matter further.
“We wish Kacper every success as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.”
