SOUTHEND United midfielder Oli Coker cannot wait for his biggest week yet with Aveley.

The 20-year-old has impressed since joining the Millers in January.

And he is keen to keep impressing as Danny Scopes take on Potters Bar Town in the Velocity Trophy final on Wednesday night before hosting Isthmian Premier leaders Bishop’s Stortford in a top of the table clash this weekend.

“Wednesday is a big game and massive for the club,” said Coker.

“Hopefully we can get a positive result and performance ahead of the final few league games to give us a final push.

“We have got ourselves into a good position in the league so hopefully we can carry on and secure the play-offs.

“All the games from now until the end of the season are big games.

“We have to play some good teams in and around us but I believe we can get the job done.”

Aveley, who won Isthmian North last season, are currently fourth in the Isthmian Premier, two points behind table-topping Stortford with just four games to go.

And Coker is relishing his role in the promotion push.

“It’s really good,” said Coker.

“There’s a great bunch of lads, all fighting for each other and winning games of football which is the main thing.”

But the matches are also good for Coker ongoing development.

“I am still young and getting games under my belt at any level will benefit me in long run,” said Coker.

“Being in a team fighting for the play-offs is a great experience too.”

However, Coker’s long-term ambition is to force his way into Southend United’s first team.

“I believe my time will come but I just have to be patient, keep grafting and wait for my opportunity,” said Coker.

“But hopefully I can break into the team and get the club moving forward and back where it belongs.”

Coker, who has been with Blues since he was eight, has made six substitute appearances for the club but has yet to start a game.
