SOUTHEND United have confirmed that all staff salaries for periods prior to March have now been paid.

However, as Echosport revealed earlier this week full-time office staff at Roots Hall have yet to receive their March pay packets.

A club spokesman said: “We are very sorry for the delay in making payments to staff and we are grateful for their loyalty and patience.

"Some staff salaries remain outstanding for March, and we are working hard to catch up with those payments, but we are presently behind forecast in relation to expected season card sales.

"We are very grateful to all those who have supported the club by purchasing their season cards already.

"That support has enabled us to make payments to staff and, with fans continued support, we’ll be able to make further payments to staff and others”

"We would encourage all those who haven’t yet purchased a season card to do so before the early bird window closes on 9 April.

"That will help us meet our financial commitments and aid our efforts to get the embargo lifted, which will help Kevin Maher and the coaches implement their plans for next year.”

The spokesman also confirmed chairman Ron Martin put an additional £2million into the club last month.
