IN-FORM Southend United striker Harry Cardwell wants to make more FA Cup memories this season.

The 26-year-old heads into Saturday’s fourth round qualifying clash at Yeovil Town with Blues having already scored 11 goals this season.

And he is determined to help Kevin Maher’s side to pick up another positive result in a competition he holds close to his heart.

“The FA Cup is a fantastic competition,” said Cardwell.

“One of the first games I ever went to watch was Manchester United in the FA Cup final against Millwall and I’ve always loved the competition.

“I’ve played in it before and we got quite far in it with Chorley as well.

“We won at Wigan and Peterborough before beating Derby at home as well.

“We ended up losing 1-0 at home to Wolves in the fourth round but it was brilliant to be part of.

“That cup run was one of the best experiences of my career so far and it would be great to have a good run with Southend as well this season.”

However, Cardwell is taking nothing for granted and is fully aware of how tough Saturday’s match will be.

“Yeovil have had a really good start to the season so it’s a hard draw for us,” said Cardwell.

“But we’re playing well at the moment and want to keep it going.”
