SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher will continue to monitor the future of Nick Hayes - despite the keeper having returned to Ipswich Town.
Blues were unable to extend Hayes' loan spell due to the restrictions upon them by their transfer embargo.
But Maher will still be keeping a close eyes on the 24-year-old's future.
"Nick's loan was up but he did absolutely brilliantly for us," said Maher.
"We'll keep an eye on that situation and where he's at."
Hayes kept three clean sheets in five games for Blues and produced a man of the match display in his final appearance against Boreham Wood.
But Hayes was only allowed to sign following a hamstring injury to David Martin.
And, with Martin now back to full fitness, Hayes headed back to Portman Road.
However, Maher was impressed by how Martin performed on his return to action at Altrincham.
"Dave was brilliant before the injury and made a couple of very good saves here too," said Maher.
"Collin (Andeng Ndi) is getting closer to being fit too so we're covered in that area."
Andeng Ndi has been out since mid-September with an ankle injury.
