BASILDON’S Danny Buchan took his eighth win of the season at Silverstone to become the 2014 Pirelli National Superstock 1000cc champion.

The 21-year-old, who was riding for the Tsingtao Kawasaki team, clinched the title in fine style in front of his ecstatic family and fans.

And Buchan was delighted with his weekend’s work.

“To get the championship won here at Silverstone with a race win proves all the early nights and hard work has paid off,” said Buchan.

“The Tsingtao Kawasaki Team and I did a lot of testing in the off season and the bike was great all year so that really helped.

“I had eight wins, only one DNF and a second place so I couldn’t have wished for a better year.

“But now I want to be riding a Superbike next season with a team who are ambitious. “I want to ride for the best team possible and I need to seriously discuss this with my parents and management to see which team's will be the most competitive.”

But Buchan will also not be resting on his laurels.

“The hard work won’t stop yet and I am now preparing for the final round and aiming to end the season as a champion,” he stressed.

“It's been an awesome year for the Tsingtao Kawasaki team and myself and to come away with a strong win feels great.

“Massive thanks must go to my team, my family, my fans and everyone for believing in me – especially my personal sponsors who have been behind me since the beginning.

“It’s an amazing feeling and it’s time to enjoy it.”
