YOUNG diving sensation Tyler Humphreys has enhanced his growing reputation with a double gold medal-winning performance in Sweden.
The 11-year-old from Shoebury travelled to Scandinavia last weekend to take part in the Swedish International, his second international event, and enjoyed great success.
He took gold in the one metre high board (C1) and the five metre high board (C1) performing some high-difficulty dives including a reverse two-and-a-half somersault, a backwards two-and-a-half somersault and a backwards one-and-a-half somersault with two-and-a-half twists.
He also secured a silver medal in the three metre discipline – missing out on the top prize by a narrow 1.30 points. Tyler, who dives with Crystal Palace Diving, was part of a team of 200 that took part in the competition, in Lund, with the team taking a medal haul of 17 medals, with eight gold medals in total – the most of any club competing.
The success follows Tyler’s gold medal winning performance at the fourth Trofeo Bimbingamba, in Rome, in the summer.
Tyler’s head coach Chen Wen said the juniors had performed “very well” in the international event, in which teams from Denmark, Poland and the Czech Republic among others took part.
Tyler will next be competing in the annual Luton Challenge Invitational.
