EXCITING martial arts prospect Kesia Dempsey has scooped two title wins in two weeks as she continues her rapid progress in the sport.

The 15-year-old, who trains at Southend Combat Academy, claimed the international Thai Boxing title in the final weeks of January - her first title belt.

And Kesia was celebrating once again just a week later after seeing off the competition to be named WKO British K1 Champion.

Following her success, her team of coaches at the academy, in Grainger Road, including Simon Dempsey and Horia Radulescu said it was a great result.

“Each of the team of coaches at the academy are very proud of her achievements,” said Dempsey.

“Kesia puts in the hours and was fully deserving of both these titles.”

Kesia is currently ranked as the number one female in the county for her age and weight category (-55kg) after beating the number two ranked girl in Newcastle at the end of last year.

The first of her titles this year came on the Awakening Show in Crewe.

The international show featured some of the top Muay Thai fighters from the UK and abroad - including France, Holland and Belgium.

Kesia took on a Dutch national title holder for the right to win the international Thai Boxing title.

And the bout proved to be extremely well contested.

The five round fight was close throughout, although Kesia was deemed to have won by unanimous decision in the end - winning her first title belt.

The following week, Kesia and the Southend Combat Academy team headed to the WKO British Open at the Barnsley Metrodome.

And the teenager won her K1 category to become the WKO British K1 champion.

Southend Combat Academy offers classes in kickboxing, Muay Thai boxing, boxing, Brazilian jiu jitsu, wrestling, mixed martial arts and fitness classes for all ages.
